All scholarships are required to submit an essay outlining topics such as: academic strengths, weaknesses, why the student is applying for the award, what field of study is being considered, and how this relates to personal and career objectives. Scholarship winners are selected on the basis of scholastic aptitude, leadership abilities, community involvement, volunteer activities and their written essay. To be eligible for consideration, all application information must be complete.
All applications will be available during the month of February/March. Grants made to the program recipients are payable from the George and Lucile Heeringa’s Charitable Trust. The recipient of the scholarship grant must supply evidence of College/University acceptance and proof of enrollment. Additionally, proof of a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better, must be provided, between semesters, to remain eligible for the scholarship.
